At Compass Commercial, we understand the importance of building a strong community. That’s why we introduced the Compass Cares initiative in 2016 to support initiatives that contribute to the vitality, sustainability and future growth in Central Oregon. We encourage volunteerism and the financial support of community organizations as part of our company culture. Every two years, we select different charities in our community to support. Each of our three charities will receive $2,000 per year of the two-year term. The Giving Plate, Warrior Impact, and Heart of Oregon are our three grantees for the 2025-2026 term. The Giving Plate’s mission is to end hunger by reimagining what food relief looks like, creating a place where guests feel seen and cared for. A community that affirms every person’s inherent worth and dignity. Warrior Impact was started to help curb and ultimately eradicate suicide amongst our nation’s heroes by providing them with intensive emotional and physical care and wellness practices. Warrior Impact introduces those struggling with post-traumatic stress (PTS) to new ways of coping and healthy outlets for treating their mental health. Heart of Oregon Corps empowers youth and young adults through employment, job training, education, and service to Central Oregon communities. Heart of Oregon Corps is a leader in empowering youth and young adults to transform their lives and their communities. Through this work, we will create a future with equitable opportunities in Central Oregon. Ranked #18 for Portland Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards for cash contributions to Oregon nonprofits. Committed $5,000 to the St. Charles Foundation Capital Campaign supporting the hospital’s expansion, including a new ICU facility, to serve patients and their families. Since 2017, Compass team members have recorded 5,376 volunteer hours with an average of 1,075 hours a year. We are proud to have been a supporter of OSU-Cascades’ 4 Central Oregon campaign to bring OSU-Cascades to our community. Teen Challenge helps people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive. They help people by enriching their lives with actual work experience to enable them to become profitable members of their community. To empower students with an exemplary 21st-century education by challenging them to excel academically and socially through integrated teaching with a global focus. They are currently working on constructing a gym and event center to allow for indoor sports, music, more classroom space and large all-school events. Bethlehem Inn transforms lives together through shelter, help and hope. They provide shelter, meals, case management, access to transportation, and work experience for our residents. DCF provides the space and support where nonprofits succeed at helping children and families. They envision a community where all children and families have the resources they need to thrive. Impacting generational change by empowering youth who are facing the greatest obstacles through relationships with professional mentors – 12+ years, no matter what. “To heal with horses” by offering nationally accredited, affordable, horse-centered therapies and experiences that bring strength, independence, confidence and joy to Central Oregonians of all ages and abilities. Healthy Beginnings is dedicated to ensuring all our children enter their school life ready to learn, contribute and thrive. They conduct free comprehensive, health and developmental assessments for children between 0-5 years old. HSCO serves companion animals by providing physical, medical, and behavioral care for thousands of abandoned, neglected and abused animals each year. They offer humane education programs and provide a pet food assistance to pet owners with demonstrated financial need. Animals can be adopted into loving responsible homes. Shepherd’s House Ministries feeds the hungry and shelters the homeless, but their deeper aim is to walk alongside the hurting and the needy to effectively address the life-controlling issues that perpetuate the long-term cycles of pain and homelessness. Their goal is to see hearts healed and lives changed from the inside out. KIDS Center is a medical model Children’s Advocacy Center providing child abuse evaluations that include a head-to-toe medical exam, child-friendly forensic interview, family advocacy, and mental health services to children and families impacted by abuse. MBSEF (Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation) creates opportunities through competitive snow sports programs to support athletes in achieving their individual athletic, academic, and personal goals.
